Working in Construction in New Jersey and Pennsylvania

Construction trades in NJ and PA are skilled, licensed, and in high demand. Residential construction and renovation volume in the tri-state area remains strong, driven by aging housing stock, population growth, and continued demand for home additions and ADUs. We maintain a stable crew of experienced tradespeople and subcontractors across carpentry, framing, painting, and project management.

We operate on a project-by-project basis and on longer-term retainer agreements depending on workload and the individual's capacity. If you are experienced, licensed where required, and work to a professional standard, we want to hear from you.

Open Positions

Lead Carpenter / Finish Carpenter

NJ and PA ยท Project-based and ongoing retainer ยท Field position

We are looking for experienced finish carpenters with a portfolio of kitchen remodels, bathroom renovations, and custom millwork installations. This role involves leading finish phases on renovation projects โ€” installing cabinetry, trim, doors, flooring, and custom built-ins โ€” and mentoring junior crew members on quality standards and workmanship. Projects range from single-room renovations to whole-home gut remodels across Bergen, Essex, Morris, and surrounding NJ counties, and Philadelphia metro PA counties.

Required:

  • 5+ years residential finish carpentry
  • Proficiency with cabinet installation, custom trim, hardwood flooring
  • Own hand tools and basic power tools
  • Valid driver license; reliable transportation to job sites in NJ and PA
  • Ability to read blueprints and cut lists
  • Clean, professional on-site conduct

Preferred: NJ or PA trade credentials, OSHA 10 card, experience with Elementor-designed renovation documents or equivalent.

Framing Carpenter

NJ and PA ยท Project-based ยท Field position

Residential framing for home additions, ADUs, and structural renovations including load-bearing wall removal with proper header installation, floor system repairs, and roof framing. Work is predominantly in NJ with periodic PA projects. We schedule framing to align with permit issuance and coordinate directly with inspectors for framing inspections.

Required:

  • 3+ years residential framing experience
  • Familiar with NJ UCC (Uniform Construction Code) framing requirements
  • Experience with engineered lumber (LVL headers, I-joists)
  • Own framing nailer, layout tools; Sawzall and circular saw minimum
  • OSHA 10 preferred; will require on-site safety orientation

Interior / Exterior Painter

NJ and PA ยท Project-based and seasonal retainer ยท Field position

Painting work encompasses interior renovations (walls, ceilings, trim, cabinets) and exterior projects (siding, trim, windows). We use Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams products exclusively for finish coats. Surface prep โ€” patching, sanding, priming โ€” is required to our standard before any finish coat application. Cabinet refinishing experience is a plus.

Required:

  • 3+ years professional painting โ€” residential renovation experience preferred over new construction
  • Skilled at cutting-in on complex trim profiles without tape
  • Familiar with proper surface prep on drywall patches, existing painted surfaces, and bare wood
  • Own brushes, rollers, and basic drop cloths; sprayer not required but welcomed
  • Lead-safe work practices (EPA RRP certification preferred for pre-1978 properties)

Project Coordinator / Estimator

NJ (primary) ยท Part-time or full-time ยท Hybrid/field

We are growing our pre-construction capacity and looking for an organized, detail-oriented person who can manage site visit scheduling, takeoffs, proposal preparation, and subcontractor follow-up. This is not a purely administrative role โ€” you will be on job sites regularly and need to understand what you are looking at to price it accurately.

Required:

  • Background in construction (estimating, project management, or trade work)
  • Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets for takeoffs and cost tracking
  • Strong written and verbal communication โ€” you will be client-facing
  • Organized; can manage 5-10 active proposals simultaneously without dropping details
  • Valid driver license; reliable transportation

What We Offer

Consistent Work Volume

We maintain a pipeline of residential renovation and addition projects across NJ and PA. Field tradespeople who meet our quality standards get consistent referrals across the project pipeline.

Fair, Timely Payment

Subcontractors and 1099 workers are paid on agreed milestone schedules โ€” not 60-day net like some GCs. We do not hold retainage on completed phases past 30 days from punch-list sign-off.

Licensed Projects, Pulled Permits

We pull permits on all required work. This protects you as a tradesperson โ€” no unpermitted work that comes back to bite you or the homeowner. Inspections are scheduled and we are present for them.

Professional Clients

Our clients are homeowners who have signed a written contract and understand the scope. You will not show up to a site without a clear scope, materials either on-site or confirmed, and a superintendent who knows what you are there to do.

Licensing and Insurance Requirements

All trade subcontractors working on our projects must carry their own general liability insurance with a minimum $1 million per occurrence limit and provide a certificate of insurance naming us as additional insured before any work begins. Workers compensation is required for any sub with employees.

We do not allow unlicensed electrical, plumbing, or HVAC work on our projects regardless of project size or municipality. Rough-in trades must hold the appropriate NJ or PA trade license. This is non-negotiable โ€” it protects the homeowner, the permit record, and your own liability exposure.

How to Apply

Send an email to the address on our contact page with:

  1. The position or trade you are applying for
  2. A brief description of your experience โ€” what you have built or renovated, where, at what scale
  3. A copy of your insurance certificate (even if it needs to be renewed โ€” we just need to see the carrier and limits)
  4. Any trade licenses or certifications you hold
  5. Your preferred work availability (full-time, part-time, project-specific, seasonal)

We review all applications and respond within 5 business days. If we have an immediate fit, we will schedule a brief call to discuss current projects and confirm availability.
